As a lifeguard, you must possess the following skills:
• Comfort in and around open water with knowledge of safety precautions
• Proficiency in deep water and ability to utilize watercraft (surfboard, paddleboard, kayak)
• Completion of lifeguard prerequisite exam (550-meter open water swim, 2-minute tread water without hands, etc.)
• Experience working with or teaching children is preferred
• Red Cross Certification or WSI certification is a plus but not required
• Must be 18 years or older
